Straight-time pay

What is straight-time pay?

The total amount of money you earn in a pay period is known as straight-time pay. In most industries, the regularly scheduled working time of employees during a normal period (such as a week), excluding time lost due to absence or acquired through overtime, still surpasses 35 hours per week.

What is the difference between straight time pay and overtime pay?

Straight-time pay refers to the whole amount of money an employee earns in a single or two-week period. Overtime pay and paid time off are usually not included in straight-time pay. In other terms, straight-time pay refers to an employee's regular remuneration for working a set number of hours.

Overtime hours are accrued at the straight rate for hours worked, whereas straight overtime hours are accrued at the rate of time and a half. Straight Time Pay is when a company pays an employee their usual rate of compensation even when they work overtime hours, when overtime pay should be time and a half.... Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, they could be entitled to twice the amount of their unpaid overtime payments.

How to calculate straight-time pay?

The task hours an employee is required to work in a day are referred to as straight time. If employees are expected to work 8 hours each day, for example, you would include 8 hours in the Work Week Overtime condition of their overtime rule for straight time.  

It is calculated using your hourly wage rate. Multiply the number of hours you worked by your hourly rate to get your straight-time pay. Look for a job that pays on a regular basis.

What does straight rate mean?

The hourly rate given on the attached pay scale, without any wage "augments," is referred to as the "straight time rate of pay."
