Talent sourcing

What is Talent Sourcing?

Talent sourcing is defined as a structured method to identify, engage and connect appropriate talent pools of prospective candidates to create a consistent flow of candidates for current and forthcoming positions.

Why is talent sourcing important?

Sourcing is important in order to improve the quality of the recruitment as well as the employment. The lack of skilled talent means that different resources must be proactively examined for candidates.

75% of eligible candidates in the current job market are not actively seeking a change. These passive candidates can be employed if the right information, compensation, advantages and benefits are provided, which may be achieved through sourcing.

  • Workforce planning
  • Selection and Recruitment
  • Employer brand promotion
  • Complete onboarding
  • Data analytics utilization

What is the difference between sourcing vs recruiting?

Candidate networking, candidate screening, interviewing, reference checks and many other related tasks are part of the recruiting functions.  All these can however only be possible if a pool of competent candidates exists. It takes a lot of time and effort to fill this pool with potential candidates.

A specialist in sourcing identifies the most qualified talented channels. Results influence recruiters, while research and networking drive sourcers. Other sources include direct phone calls to passive applicants and the use of various available procurement tools.
